Our Beliefs

OUR BELIEFS

Foundational Convictions to Which We Are Committed

The Supremacy and Glory of the Triune God | Rom. 11:36, 1 Cor. 10:31, Phil. 1:19-20
– therefore we make Him central in our worship and seek His glory above all things in our lives
– therefore we seek to diligently live and boldly speak as His representatives in our world, community, families

The Centrality of the Cross of Christ | Gal. 6:14, Phil. 1:21
– therefore we preach Christ in the gospel as the source of life for unbelievers and believers
– therefore we seek to live out of the resources of the gospel, applying it to all of life, in the hope of eternal life

The Empowerment of the Holy Spirit for life and ministry | Acts 1:8, 9:31, Eph. 5:18-20
– therefore we put a priority on prayer, gathered and informal, for the help and power of the Spirit of God
– therefore we look away from ourselves and trust the work of God’s Spirit in and among us for life, service, and witness

The Authority and Sufficiency of the Bible for Faith and Practice | 2 Tim. 3:16
– therefore our sole authority for teaching and preaching is the Bible
– therefore we direct our corporate life and ministry according to the written Word of God
– therefore we hold to the 1689 London Baptist Confession as a reliable summary of the major teachings of the Scriptures

Conformity to Christ in Our Individual and Corporate Life | John 17:3, Phil. 3:10, Rom 8:29, 1 Cor. 12:12
– therefore we seek to spend time in God’s written Word that we might become like the incarnate Word
– therefore we seek to stir up the variety of spiritual gifts that we might better represent Christ as His body
– therefore we seek to cultivate godly family life as husbands, fathers, wives, mothers, and children

Reverent and Joyful Corporate Worship of God | Psalm 2:1, Heb. 11:28, Psalm 100:1-4
– therefore we seek to cultivate an atmosphere in our gathered worship of joy and reverence
– therefore we seek to convey in our lives both the joy of the Lord and His awesome holiness

Strong Relationships among Ourselves | John 13:34-35
– therefore we seek to build one another up by fulfilling the “one another's” of Scripture
– therefore we show hospitality to one another in our homes and serve one another in practical ways
– therefore we seek to establish small groups to cultivate close fellowship

The Centrality of the Local Church in the Redemptive Plan of God | Matt. 16:18, Eph.3:21
– therefore we seek to be faithful to the leaders, people, and ministries of our local church in our prayers, attendance, and financial support

Evangelization of the Lost Both Near and Far | Matt. 28:18-20, Acts 1:8
– therefore, we seek to apply the Word preached to unbelievers, inviting them to Christ
– therefore we seek to be aggressive, creative, and prayerful in our efforts to win the lost
– therefore we seek to have meetings and activities that are aimed at reaching the lost
– therefore we seek to pray for and support gospel outreaches beyond our immediate area

Equipping the People of God to Employ Their Gifts in Ministry | Eph. 4:11-12, 1 Pet. 4:10-11
– therefore we seek to help one another discover our spiritual gifts
– therefore we seek to provide opportunities for the use of our various gifts

Recognizing, Training and Sending Additional Leaders to Build Christ’s Church | 1 Tim 3, 2 Tim. 2:2
– therefore we are committed to recognizing biblically qualified elders & deacons to lead and serve the body
– therefore we are alert to leadership gifts and to give opportunities for their exercise among us and elsewhere
